The MAGNET Model | 6D Sales Framework

The MAGNET Model is the English-language expression of MAGNET Modeli® (MM), a six-dimensional sales and customer relationship development framework created by Turkish sales trainer, author and speaker Ümit ÜNKER. The model is designed to make observable sales behaviours visible through a shared development language.

Rather than treating sales performance as a collection of isolated techniques, The MAGNET Model looks at how customer focus, analysis, trust, solution quality, interaction and consistency work together across the customer relationship.

What does MAGNET stand for?

LetterDimensionDevelopment question
MCustomer FocusAre we truly centering the customer’s context, priorities and success criteria?
AAnalysisWhat evidence, data and observations support our sales decisions?
GTrust BuildingWhich behaviours give the customer a reason to trust us?
NQualified Approach & SolutionHow specifically does our proposal fit this customer’s real problem and expected outcome?
EInteractionHow do we involve the customer in thinking, clarifying and co-creating the decision?
TConsistency & SatisfactionDoes the experience remain consistent before, during and after the sale?

Why was The MAGNET Model developed?

Sales results cannot be explained by product knowledge, persuasion techniques or closing skills alone. A salesperson may be excellent at building rapport but weak at analysis. Another may understand the customer’s problem but fail to translate that understanding into a qualified solution. A team may perform strongly during the sales process but create inconsistency after the agreement is signed.

The MAGNET Model was developed to bring these behaviours into one coherent framework that can be used in training, field practice, manager feedback and development conversations.

The six dimensions of The MAGNET Model

M — Customer Focus

Customer Focus means placing the customer’s business context, needs, expectations and perception of value at the centre of the sales conversation. Observable behaviour includes asking questions before presenting a solution and linking the conversation to the customer’s own success criteria.

A — Analysis

Analysis is the ability to interpret customer data, stakeholder dynamics, decision criteria, risks and signals systematically. It helps sales professionals test assumptions rather than relying only on intuition.

G — Trust Building

Trust Building is based on expertise, transparency, ethical behaviour and consistency between promises and actions. Trust is not simply likability; it is the customer’s confidence that the salesperson is credible and dependable.

N — Qualified Approach & Solution

This dimension focuses on moving away from generic product presentations. A qualified solution connects features and capabilities to the customer’s priorities, risks, expected outcomes and usage context.

E — Interaction

Interaction turns the customer from a passive listener into an active participant. Open questions, summarising, confirmation, feedback and collaborative thinking help create a better decision process.

T — Consistency & Satisfaction

The final dimension looks at whether the quality of the relationship remains consistent across the entire customer journey. The promise made before the sale should be reflected in the experience after the sale.

How is The MAGNET Model used?

  1. Assess the current state: Review observable sales behaviours, manager observations and available performance data.
  2. Identify the priority dimension: Focus on the behaviour gap with the greatest practical impact instead of trying to change everything at once.
  3. Apply it in real customer conversations: Use cases, role plays and real opportunity planning.
  4. Track behaviour through management routines: Reinforce the desired behaviour through feedback, observation and development conversations.

The MAGNET Score

The MAGNET self-assessment provides an initial development map across the six dimensions. It is designed as a strategic self-reflection tool, not as a psychometric personality test, clinical assessment or guarantee of sales performance. The most useful interpretation comes from looking at the distribution across dimensions rather than treating the total score as a label.

The MAGNET Model and Value-Based Selling

Ümit ÜNKER also developed Değer Odaklı Satış® (DOS), a value-focused sales approach. The two frameworks address different but complementary questions. DOS focuses on how to discover, articulate and prove customer value. The MAGNET Model focuses on the observable behaviours that allow sales professionals to create and sustain that value in the field.

The MAGNET Model book

The framework has also been published in book form. The English edition, The Magnet Model, introduces the model to an international readership and connects the six dimensions with customer relationship development and sales practice.
