ÖNCELİK ETKİSİ

Bu Bölümde;

PRIORITY EFFECT

In this chapter We will learn about;

● How should the effect and priority of words be used?

● What are positive intrinsic words?

“Priority Effect and Magic of Words” for you to try immediately or apply instantly.

When the first information we hear catches our brain’s attention, it paints all the information that comes after. This is called “Priority Effect”. Thanks to this effect, you can convince the other person by differentiating the order of the words. After the first few words, our brain starts to stop its activity in an effort to take a shortcut. It makes a quick decision and doesn’t pay much attention to the rest of the information.

Remember!

Everyone prefers people who start with positive words first.

After the first two words, our brain does not pay attention to other words, so starting to communicate with strong, effective and positive words is one of the important effects of persuasion. As the name suggests, priority effect emphasizes what should be perceived first in the subconscious.

Remember!

Whatever comes in is what comes out. If it is garbage, it is garbage that comes out. For this reason, it will always be useful to plan all your communication and the words you will make, instead of talking randomly with unnecessary or useless words. Success has a direct bearing on the words you use. The more vocabulary you have, the more successful you will be. You can express yourself correctly, you will be more creative, you can think and dream more. People think and dream in words. Your imagination is directly proportional to your words.

Let’s look at the effect of ‘conjunctions’ we use most often.

And” conjunction

It creates a causal relationship between two words.

You can use the power of AND between words… and thus… and so…, and from now on….

”I agree with you. And so I have important suggestions to support what you say. “

“ I also agree with you that the product is expensive, and this shows that you are buying a better product. ” In general, expensive = something expensive due to its good perception is good quality, in this sentence, which is exemplified by the fact that it is good although expensive. Although it is not an absolute guarantee, the conjunctions “” and “” establish a causal relationship between the two statements.

REASON-RESULT

But” conjunction

It deletes the word that comes before it. The “but” conjunction is used incorrectly in many correspondence or speech. Most of our executives made sentences like this when asking us for a report or giving us feedback, or we often set our sentences for someone else as follows.

“You wrote a great report, but there are too many errors in your report.”

As seen in this sample sentence, “but” will be “there are too many errors in the report.” The word that remains in the mind of the other party because the linker deletes the word preceding it. Because the conjunction used emphasizes the negative sentence that comes after it, even if it is a positive sentence.

The formula is simple; Using the opposite is extremely important in persuading people and creating an effective positive perception on them.

If we use “negative sentence but positive sentence” instead of “positive sentence but negative sentence” we will convey the message we want to give more positively.

“There are too many errors in your report, but you wrote a great report.”

You get it now, don’t you?

The way we use the word ‘but’ is very important – it is called ‘but’ magic!

Use the Power of Repeat

Repetition underlies all hypnotic perceptions. People who are good at communication aren’t afraid to repeat themselves and their words. They do this most when they are working on a new point. What needs to be done at this point is that there must be a slight difference between what you said now and what you said before.

As in the example: “You will love this product.” “You will definitely love this product.” “You will fall in love with this product.” “You will never forget this product.” In advertising, they say repeat selling is the best method. When you are selling radio spots, you can never sell 1-2. Nobody buys a product by listening to a radio spot once. You must enter a spot on the radio at least 50-75 times. Why is it so important to repeat things? Many people are very bad listeners. They misses most of what they hears, and only 20 percent remember it later.

If you do not repeat your messages, you may run the risk of the other person forgetting them. Repeating something allows you to establish an emotional connection with people.

You can use the power of words in communication as a magical means of persuasion when combined with the tone of voice.

Positive Intrinsic Words

In their research on the relationship between words and the brain, Neurologist Dr. Andrew Newberg and communications expert Mark Robert Waldman found that when we use words with positive meanings such as “love” and “peace“, our cognitive reasoning ability increases. Noticeable development is also observed in our frontal lobes of our brain. It also activates the motivating parts.

On the other hand, negative words prevent the secretion of some neuro-chemicals and drag the person into stress. The amygdala primarily takes incoming sensory data and matches them with some positive or negative emotions. If a negative sense occurs, it ensures that alarm signals are sent to the brain.

Transformational Grammar Psycholinguistics, founded by Noam Chomsky, is a subfield of psychology that examines how much the words people use can affect their lives. Chomsky argues that the language and phrases used here affect the mental process.

During the day, we should pay attention to the words that come out of our mouth, observe the situations in which we express ourselves and draw various conclusions from this. We should identify the negative words that we frequently use in our speeches and replace them with constructive, positive and tolerant expressions. For example, we can avoid using words such as “always“, “never“, “I have to” because these words put people under pressure.
